Virtual Instruction (VI) FAQs

Commonly Asked Questions

Absolutely! VI is provided by our Learning Coaches with the same quality, care, and fun as our in-person instruction. Given it is online, some of our students are actually more engaged in interacting with our team! We use the best-in-class set of tools based on the web conferencing platform Zoom to maintain a constant face-to-face connection while sharing content at the same time. VI is extremely interactive and the excitement of using cutting edge technology helps keep student attention during session.

What’s even better is it gives you more flexibility in classes to best fit your schedule. Try it!

We are proud that all of our learning coaches have provided hundreds of online sessions since we began implementing VI two years ago. We use VI on a daily basis to provide instruction to almost 50% of our students throughout the year, complete evaluations, meetings with parents to share results, and progress updates. We are confident that each instructor can create the same magic for your child online as in person.

VI is easily accessible via any laptop or tablet on a wifi network. The unique hardware needed to create our interactive experience sits with our Learning Coaches, so the only thing you need to do is a simple free download from the App Store or Google Play to get started! The software is free and available on Mac, PC, iOS, and Android.

We provide instruction at your home, at school and online and in our centers as we open them starting in early 2020! All education is individually performed with a single teacher and student.

The first step is a quick tech consultation with one of our Learning Coaches. Your coach will walk you through the download and give you and your child a tour of the virtual instruction platform. Most families are able to complete their tech consultation in less than 15 minutes. We will work with you to create the schedule that works best for your student during school closures and beyond.

Our experience has shown that VI is a great fit for the majority of students. We do assess each situation on a case by case basis. For example, a student who struggles with ADHD might do two 30 minute sessions instead of a typical 1 hour lesson. We create custom plans for every student and maintain all of our fun driven motivators to keep the session engaging.

We offer a reduced rate of $100 per hour for our VI. Our VI service is the highest quality of intervention for your child and proven to be equally as effective as in-person lessons. We are happy we can extend these savings (travel time and cost) to you and your family.

Absolutely! We encourage parents to audit sessions often to gain a better understanding of our methodology and their child’s progress. You can pop in at any time or schedule an observation with your learning coach.

It really depends on the student. Some younger students will require a proctor to get started or maintain focus, but most will be able to independently operate the platform from the first session.
