Our Learning Skills Assessment utilizes a range of standardized measures that are highly regarded within the field of education. In addition, we consider external evaluations, school reports, and input from parents. These assessments offer a complete picture of a child’s current performance, allowing us to identify individual strengths and weaknesses. This information is critical in crafting a personalized instruction plan that addresses the child’s particular needs, resulting in improved academic outcomes and a transformative learning experience.

What Skills are Assessed?

Understanding and recognizing the meaning of words.
Ability to use and express words effectively.
Capacity to form mental images of letters and words, manipulate them, and understand symbolic relationships.
Ability to use Visual Working Memory and Phonemic Awareness to reliably and correctly remember the sounds associated with each letter and letter pattern.
Assess students’ ability to sound out and pronounce unfamiliar words by evaluating their knowledge and application of phonics rules.
Ability to recognize entire words instantly and retain them after learning them, especially those not following the typical phonics rules.
Both Reading Rate and Reading Accuracy are assessed to determine a student’s Reading Fluency Levels. These are the levels at which students can independently access reading material.
A student’s ability to recall open-ended questions after reading a passage. Student are allowed to read stories once before answering questions.
Knowledge of sound-symbol correspondence, ability to spell regular and irregular words accurately, and proficiency in applying spelling rules.
Knowledge of basic math operations and facts. Word problems are also tested to compare to computation.

This consultation, typically scheduled 2-3 business days after the assessment, is a crucial step in our process. During this meeting, we provide a detailed report outlining your child’s strengths and weaknesses, shedding light on the root causes of their learning struggles.
We believe understanding is the first step toward improvement. Therefore, we take the time to explain why your child is learning the way they do, demystifying any complexities and providing clarity. This understanding empowers you as a parent, equipping you with the knowledge to effectively support your child’s learning journey.
But we don’t stop at understanding. We believe in actionable insights. We provide a unique instruction plan specifying the number of hours and focus areas required for effective intervention. This personalized plan targets your child’s unique needs, providing a clear roadmap to overcome their learning struggles. By the end of the consultation, you’ll leave with a clear picture of why your child is struggling and, more importantly, a concrete plan to address it.
