If this is your reality, we are here to help! Eardley Education Solutions is excited to offer Afterschool Science of Reading Groups! Our tailored small groups are just what your child needs to close their reading gap this school year. The 6-week and 12-week programs we offer will help your student achieve significant improvements in just months. We follow the Science of Reading to get results that last while creating an engaging team atmosphere for students to overcome their challenges together.

After the initial Reading Skills Assessment, we match your student to a small group of 3–5 similar learners, and the instruction begins. We engage all students equally at their current skill level and tailor their intervention to match their needs. Our sessions are 45 minutes long and totally interactive via our virtual classrooms on The Lessonspace platform. Students will work as a team to learn to decode words, master sight words, and improve their reading fluency and comprehension as they grow together. Everyone benefits from having a team with the same goals! Parents receive biweekly updates on student progress and get custom tools and recommendations to support their student's learning at home.

Our Reading Groups are divided into three decoding levels and three comprehension levels, which students can graduate to as they progress:

Decoding and Fluency Levels:

• Reading Foundations Group: Introduction to basic phonics and simple word recognition.
• Emerging Readers Group: Building on decoding skills with more complex words and sentences.
• Fluent Readers Group: Achieving proficiency in decoding, reading with increased fluency.

Reading Comprehension Levels:

• Emerging Imagery Group: Developing imagery-based comprehension strategies, vocabulary, and main ideas.
• Applying Critical Thinking Group: Enhancing critical thinking, grasping larger texts, building expressive language.
• Mastering Comprehension Skills Group: Mastering advanced comprehension, analyzing and evaluating texts, building written expression.

Our groups are available for daily 45-minute sessions between 3 pm and 6 pm EST. We start new groups each month and have rolling enrollment. Our Director will help craft a plan that fits your student's needs and your budget. Our 6-week programs start as low as $1,200 for 30 sessions, and we are proud to accept the New Worlds Reading Scholarship, which covers the complete cost of our 6-week programs, including an initial assessment.

What are our Reading Skills Assessments like?

Our Literacy Screening is a fast and accurate assessment that gets right to the heart of student difficulties by measuring both sensory-cognitive skills like Symbol Imagery and Phonemic Awareness while also testing for achievement in Phonics, Sight Words, Reading and Comprehension. We learn the “why” and the “how” at the same time!  The screening takes roughly 1 hour and we meet to review the results within 2 business days.  You will leave our meeting with a crystal clear picture of your student's learning skills and more importantly, our plan to help them close their learning gap. 

What type of results does our our students see?
